Get involved Why volunteer Volunteers are pivotal to our work, without them we couldn’t preserve our green spaces, protect our built heritage, engage hard to reach communities or fundraise to keep the Trust operating. We want volunteers to feel valued and proud to be part of the Environment Trust team. If you are thinking of becoming a regular volunteer we provide an induction, supervision and training, so don't worry if you think you have no skills to offer, everyone is welcome! We educate, empower and mobilise people to improve, preserve and protect their neighbourhood for the benefit of nature and people everywhere. Becoming a volunteer can be daunting. Will they want me? What can I really do? Don't worry, you don't need any specialist knowledge or have professional skills. Just bring along your enthusiasm and let us guide you. Our expert staff will help you to understand what we are doing and why. They will guide you, whether it's planting vegetation for water voles, recording bat species, spotting the important features of a significant local building, selling tickets at event or promoting us on social media. We will have a whole range of activities and experiences to offer that will help you to gain new knowledge and skills. For full details about volunteering see our Volunteer Handbook.
